Curated by Avijit Dutta, Lost in Transition reflected on the fading art of handwritten letters in an age driven by speed, technology, and instant communication. Once a deeply personal and emotional form of connection, letter writing gradually disappeared as emails and digital messages replaced the intimacy of handwritten words, envelopes, and postcards.

The exhibition brought together Indian artists who had experienced the culture of letter writing and invited them to reinterpret memory, nostalgia, and personal communication through small, intimate artworks. The exhibition also envisioned a visual documentation in the form of a book combining artworks and handwritten letters in the artists’ native languages.

Presented by Calcutta Arts Club at Harrington Street Arts Centre, Kolkata, the exhibition served as a nostalgic reflection on memory, communication, and the emotional value of letters that once connected people across distances and time.
